When paging through a magazine, there are few things that catch my eye - one of which is the "before" and "after" pictures of women who have been made over. The photographer sure can make these women look really unpleasant, and then with a touch of makeup and a new hairstyle- practically a new person appears!
The same is true of us spiritually. When God gets a hold of our heart, a complete, real life change can occur from the inside out. So, what happens to make such a complete transition possible? After all, God says in His word, "man looks at the outside, but God looks at the heart."
In Extreme Makeove: Authentic Living in Christ, we will begin with the foundational question, "Who is God?", and why should I place my faith in Him?
"Who am I?" The next building block in Authentic Christian Living is to understand your purpose. Now come on, does God really have something special for me? What can I hope for?
And lastly, "Who do I touch?" How do I love others? How will I choose to live? How can I discover and understand my calling?
So you think you look good now? Wait ’til God gets a hold of you in His Extreme Makeover. You won't even recognize yourself!
Speaker Pamela Mutz and husband, Bill, live in Lakeland, Florida, and are the parents of twelve children ranging from nine to thirty years of age. They serve bi-vocationally on FamilyLife’s "Weekend to Remember" Speaker Team. Bill and Pamela are also grandparents of five children; two of whom are in the presence of the Lord, along with their own story-inspiring son, Jonathan.
Pamela was educated in her home state of Colorado and received a BA degree in Physical Education. While working with high school students on the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ, she moved to Indiana where she married Bill. They were interviewed on the nationally syndicated radio broadcast "FamilyLife Today" entitled "The Joy of a Big Family." Their story, "Jonathan's Balloon," as told by Carol Kent, was featured on "Focus on the Family" first in 1994 and most recently on July 14-15, 2008, entitled "Secret Longings of the Heart."
Throughout her parenting life, Pamela has participated in her children's education through home schooling, local Christian schools, Sunday school, and public schooling. She conceived, organized, and emceed a teen purity conference and continues to initiate efforts to help families in spiritual and emotional need. She has served on multiple community boards and taught women’s Bible studies and discipleship groups. Currently, Pamela serves as State Chairwoman of Moms for Marriage in Florida.
Pamela has a great love for the outdoors that has taken her hiking and fishing in God’s beautiful creation, skydiving with her grown children, and allows her to paint watercolors while sitting in nature. Whether teaching her daughters dance steps in the living room or baking her family’s favorite meals, she finds life’s activities most fulfilling when participating in them with her husband and children. The passion and joy of Pam’s life is falling more deeply in love with Jesus and her lifetime spouse of over thirty years, Bill.
More recently, Pamela has taken counseling courses with Deeper Walk Ministries, based in Indianapolis, Indiana, and graduated from the Centurion Program, founded by Charles Colson and sponsored by the Wilberforce Forum. After compiling many journal entries of her childrens’ antics, she hopes to continue developing her writing and catching up on all those books she never got to read or write while chasing toddlers!
